Making Movies & Media with Muddhouse CEO Kris Meyer

Kris Meyer started making movies in 2000 as an Associate Producer on the Farrelly Brothers’ Jim Carey hit “Me Myself & Irene”. Today, his IMDB page lists 22 producing credits in total, including many famous films as well as one that’s not so well known called “On Broadway,” which was written and directed by Dave McLaughlin. Kris continues to make movies, producing an indie film roughly every year, while also running Muddhouse Media, a podcast studio he founded, which several produces original story shows as well as corporate podcasts. If every company today has to be a media company, and business storytelling is core to business strategy, then Kris is a guy whose perspective we want to get.

Game Day Events at Work with Dave McLaughlin

Anyone who has ever played a sport knows there’s a difference between practice days and game days. Well we have game days in our careers too. Some days, there’s just more at stake. To say that another way, opportunities are not distributed equally across our work weeks. Job interviews. Promotion opportunities. A big client pitch. An investor presentation. These are moments we need to win. In this talk, Dave will lead a conversation around this view of major moments, how to recognize and be ready for them — and how to make more of them happen, because these are the moments we need if we’re looking to achieve big things.

Disclosure: this conversation will lean toward focusing on men’s experience of “game days” in work life, because of a new business that I’m exploring. But of course everyone is welcome to attend this event and participate in the discussion!

Stella Downie: Serial Brick & Mortar Business Builder

Stella Downie builds IRL, consumer facing businesses that don’t appear to have much in common with each other. First she built Boston’s best toy store, then eventually sold it. Then she launched the first indoor trampoline park business on the East Coast, growing to five sites across New England. And now she’s re-launching a retro Berkshires motor lodge on the beautiful Mohawk Trail in Western Massachusetts. Visionary but very very humble, smart and hard-working in the extreme, Stella understands how to operationalize a vision and how to make customers happy. And that’s what we’re going to talk about.
